Assab One presents the tenth edition of The Wall (archives), a mobile, in-progress archive. On a long wall that still shows traces of the building’s industrial past ASSAB ONE held in one huge display images, texts, videos, works, putting the visitor in the condition to choose his own path along all possible variables, constituting an autonomous and personal investigation around the concept of wall.

The Wall (Archives)

Pietro Gaglianò’s project was born in 2010, activating a process of discussion, archiving, collective elaboration and pedagogical experimentation around the concept of wall, starting from the geopolitical definition of frontier to the most diverse social, cultural, political, territorial and aesthetic interpretations. The project develops a discussion model on contemporary languages and communication with the public that reinterprets the practice of archiving in a creative function. The materials collected are of any nature and format: performances, videos, photos, drawings, or other works, original texts, documents, books, magazines, verbal statements, public actions, performances. The authors involved come largely from the art world: artists, critics, curators, actors, theater directors, but there are also anthropologists, educators, philosophers.

The Wall (archives)moves from city to city expanding with the work of new authors met along the way and taking on a different profile each time on the level of sharing with the public and the paths put in place: from the possibility of consultation to workshop activities. Over the course of the previous nine editions, in Florence, Rome (with Reload), Bologna (with Nosadella.due), Lecce (with Archiviazioni), Luxembourg City (with Ultranature and Labo/Casino Luxembourg), Santa Croce sull’Arno (with Villa Pacchiani), Cosenza (with Università della Calabria), Cremona (with B.go Loreto/SP) and Pergola (with Sponge Artecontemporanea) it presented the contributions of nearly 200 authors and launched specific projects with institutions and training organizations.
