Exister 08: Dancing in the Silence

The first co-production of the Exister festival for Schuko, a young dance company deeply focused on creating events and utilizing new technologies in the performing arts. The theme is the body, and the area of investigation is the relationship between body and identity: a reflection on the subject’s self-awareness and its internal space, on what composes it, and on the uniqueness of its existence. The question driving the reflection is to what extent corporeality and identity coincide in a subject. The focus is on the possibilities, the options offered by contemporary society for the construction and definition of the self, the margins for being anyone and anywhere. The body is flexible, like time, space, and work; it is redefined and precarious, yet in search of its own spine. Just as there are no “neon places” where the urgency of connection cannot emerge, there is no subject with a multiple identity who does not seek its own uniqueness, who does not suffer from the lack of origins and relationships that define it.
