SLIDELUCKPOTSHOW (SLPS) was founded in 2000 by Casey Kelbaugh, an international photographer specializing in advertising and reportage. The first edition of the event was held in the courtyard of his home in Seattle. The goal was to bring together photography enthusiasts, both professionals and amateurs, outside the conventional art circuit. Casey Kelbaugh created an evening of artistic and personal exchange, where people could share their ideas and projects in a friendly atmosphere. The name of the event comes from the combination of two English words: “potluck” (a casual meal) and “slideshow” (a projection of slides).

Since Kelbaugh moved to New York, where SLPS is held three times a year, the event has grown significantly, even attracting media attention.

In 2007, for the first time, SLPS arrived in Europe. Events were organized in London, Madrid, Copenhagen, Berlin, Milan, Sevilla, and Barcelona. In 2008, in addition to returning to several European cities, SLPS was also held for the first time in Brazil and Venezuela. Casey’s goal is to establish a global network of photography-related events, and in Milan, the aim is to create a collaborative network with other interested European cities, hosting multiple events throughout the year.

At the first Milan edition, among others, photographers like Alex Majoli, Jessica Dimmock, and Paolo Ranzani participated with their slides. All the works presented in 2007 are available on the website www.slpsmilano.com.
